Adrian Frenzel, a self proclaimed food enthusiast, is channeling his passion into revolutionising the market for office food.
Frenzel founded the B2B Food Group in 2018 with one clear purpose, to help teams and offices to “Eat better at work.” B2B Food Group is currently active in eight countries and is the biggest global B2B food ordering platform.
“We ensure that our customers receive food from the best local caterers and restaurants in their area, with a guarantee of quality and a stress-free, punctual delivery process,” said Frenzel.
Frenzel began his career at the Hamburg office of management consulting firm McKinsey & Company in 2008 after completing his studies in Industrial Engineering in Karlsruhe, Germany.
Owing to his hands on mentality and approach to business, he made the decision to work and develop himself in the operations field of the company. It didn’t take long until he was promoted to Engagement Manager.
In 2013 he made the move to the start up capital of Europe, Berlin, where he became one of five managing directors, who together with ProSiebenSat.1, set up the Incubator EPIC Companies.
Within only two years, he was involved in the founding of eight countries, using his expertise to help young entrepreneurs with the scaling of their business models. He then made the move to Rocket Internet, to the impressive role of Chief Operations Officer. This role took Frenzel to the United States, where he would play an integral role in the development of HelloFresh. It didn’t take long until he was promoted to Co-CEO of HelloFresh US, which he helped grow into the biggest company for home delivered meal kits in the country. Frenzel built three new production sites and a new call center for HelloFresh, and was responsible for various product innovations that led to the market leadership the company enjoys until this day.
In 2017, HelloFresh went public and completed its IPO, being valued at €1.7 billion on the stock exchange. HelloFresh is still one of the most successful German startups in history.
Frenzel attributes his love of food to his childhood, and time spent with his father who collected historical cookbooks. His father inspired and encouraged him to cook from an early age, and Frenzel remembers food-and-wine inspired trips to France and Italy fondly. He believes that the social element of food and eating is not to be underestimated, and that this can make for a much improved working life. He’s also a big believer in a healthy and balanced diet, having recently participated in Veganuary with the entire B2B Food Group. One of his favourite things to do on the weekend is to head to the local farmer’s market with his children, and to cook with them whenever he has time.
“Food should be tasty, healthy, and sustainable, and the pricing should be correctly reflected. Conscious nutrition is a big issue, and we want to improve peoples’ lives by offering great food for offices and teams at work - a place where many people spend most of their time,” said Frenzel.
During the process of building the B2B Food Group up, he always wants to be hands-on and close to the action. He regularly visits all countries to talk to the teams, get to know the customers, and to see the suppliers on-site. The most important thing for him is to understand the needs and wishes of the individual customer groups, and to implement and reflect them effectively in the product.
The B2B Food Group is already one of the biggest B2B Food Ordering marketplaces in the world, and Frenzel has big plans.
